Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Oudomxay, Lao PDR – The GEF/UNDP/ASEAN Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM) Regional Project Management Unit, together with representatives from the UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub and the Department of Water Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Lao PDR, conducted site visits and consultations in Bokeo, Luang Namtha, and Oudomxay Provinces on 11-14 July 2026, to identify key issues and potential solutions to guide the development and implementation of pilot projects in the Nam Tha River Basin.

Depok and Jakarta, Indonesia — The GEF/UNDP/ASEAN Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM) Project was officially launched on 10 November 2025, following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Ministry of Environment of Indonesia (MOE) and the PEMSEA Resource Facility (PRF) in Jakarta. The signing was led by Mr. Rasio Ridho Sani, Deputy Minister for Environmental Pollution and Degradation Control of MOE, and Ms. Aimee Gonzales, Executive Director of PRF.

Hosted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment, the Third RSC Meeting brought together representatives from the AWGWRM National Focal Agencies of Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam; National Implementing Partners of the IRBM Project; local governments from the seven priority river basins and university partners.

Kuta, Bali - The GEF/UNDP/ASEAN Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM) Project convened a regional orientation workshop on the development of the Rapid Evaluation of the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (REWEFe) Nexus Toolkit for river basins in Southeast Asia on 3 June 2025.

Kuta, Bali – The GEF/UNDP/ASEAN Project on Reducing Pollution and Preserving Environmental Flows in the East Asian Seas through the Implementation of Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM) in ASEAN countries Project Regional Steering Committee (RSC) comprising the ASEAN Working Group on Water Resources Management (AWGWRM), the ASEAN Secretariat, East Asian Seas Executive Committee and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) met in Bali, Indonesia on 4 June 2025 for the Third RSC Meeting, which was held back-to-back with the 25th Annual Meeting of the AWGWRM.
